Maybe it was the weather, or the new machines, or the fact that there were no major races to capture the attention of voters -- but the bottom line, at least in the early stages, is that turnout has been abysmal so far.
I just spoke with one poll worker who said only 190 voters out of more than 1,000 registered voters showed up at her polling site today. Another reported 45 out of 425. A third reported 93 voters out of 700 registered.
It's hard to project that out over the whole county, but it offers a strong indication for what we can expect the rest of tonight.
