National exposure for Erie inventor

A prominent Erieite was the subject of a profile that aired Tuesday on NBC's "Today" Show.

John Kanzius, whom I've written about extensively over the past two years, was the subject of the piece, was interviewed about a theory he has helped develop that researchers believe could someday be used to treat most forms of cancer.

The Today profile didn't break any new ground. Those familiar with the story likely didn't learn anything new about Kanzius or his theory.

But it did offer a moment in the national spotlight for Erie, which was mentioned numerous times in the piece.

If Kanzius' theory -- which combines the use of directed radio waves with the use of nanoparticles -- continues to work as well as it has in early tests, you can expect more such pieces in the future.
