NFG's rate hike

A reader named Alex sent me an e-mail this weekend asking for my thoughts on the NFG rate hike request.

I've offered some insight on that topic in an earlier posting. But I thought I'd provide an update.

Given what I've heard from those who were at the recent public hearing on the request, I don't see it passing. While many believe the state's Public Utility Commission is quick to rubber stamp these requests, the rhetoric is so strong on this issue that it would be almost impossible for the Commissioners to approve this request.

In fact, the PUC might use this as an opportunity to try to gain some points with the public.
