Happy New Year, friends of Erie.
2006 certainly was a rocky year for northwestern Pennsylvania. We saw more plant closings, the fizzling out of the juice plant, and city finance troubles.
But it seems as though there is plenty of optimism about what the new year might bring.
We're expecting the opening of Presque Isle Downs, the bayfront convention center and the return of manufacturing to the International Paper Co. site.
Will these projects bring new life to our community?
Or will they be overshadowed by more economic troubles?
I'll offer my thoughts on this topic later this week in my e-letter.
In the meantime, I'd love to hear what you think.
