Delegate training

If you’re a Democrat and interested in learning how to become a delegate to the party’s national convention, the state Democratic Party is holding a free training session this evening in Meadville.

The session, for those in the 3rd Congressional District, will be held at Meadville City Hall, 984 Water St., starting at 6:30 p.m. No sessions are scheduled for Erie.

Delegates to the Democratic and Republican conventions will be elected April 22.

Delegates commit to a candidate, but if that candidate is out of the race by the time of the delegates’ own election they typically switch their allegiance to the winner, said Abe Amoros, a spokesman for the state party.

The Democratic National Convention is Aug. 25-28 in Denver.

The Republican National Convention is Sept. 1-4 in Minneapolis-St. Paul.
