Rockin' with Ron Paul

Poker Face and politics will mix Wednesday night at Sherlocks’s, 508 State St.

Poker Face is a rock band from Allentown that will headline a fundraising show for Ron Paul, the Republican presidential candidate whose homemade and professional campaign signs can be seen all over town.

The other rock bands scheduled for the stage are the Boodlies, from Edinboro, and Tommy Magik and the Wonderfulls of Pittsburgh.

The bands will take the stage at 9:30 p.m., said Allen Perry, 48, of West Springfield, who is hosting the fundraiser to increase awareness of Paul’s campaign.

The event also features speakers, including Hagen Smith, chairman of the Pennsylvania Constitution Party. The speakers will start to address the gathering at 8 p.m., Perry said.

For $10, supporters will hear the speakers and music, help themselves to finger food at a buffet, and get eight raffle tickets for a chance at prizes.

The money raised locally will go toward the nationwide goal of raising $12 million for Paul’s campaign by the end of this month. Paul has raised more than $10.8 million, according to his Web site.

The 2004 presidential race often saw a marriage of music and politics. Looks like it’s happening again in the ’08 race.
