Kucinich out; refocuses on congressional race

Now that longshot Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich is getting out of the presidential race, the Ohio congressman faces another tough campaign — his bid for re-election this year.

Kucinich, 61, a six-term House member, is facing four opponents in the Ohio primary on March 4. One opponent already has criticized Kucinich for spending too much time outside the district while pursuing his Oval Office dream.

Kucinich’s 10th congressional district — considered a solid Democratic stronghold — takes in western Cuyahoga County.

The liberal Kucinich, whose presidential candidacy was supported by Sean Penn and other Hollywood celebrities, is calling off his White House ambitions today after failing to gain any traction in Iowa, New Hampshire, Michigan and Nevada.
