When photographer Rob Engelhardt and I talked with voters Friday in Ashtabula about today’s Ohio primary, we saw a lot of yard signs.
Unfortunately, the signs said “for sale’’ or “for rent.’’
I counted one sign for Hillary Rodham Clinton (and that outside the township garage for a rally), one for Mike Huckabee, one for Ron Paul and none for Barack Obama or John McCain.
I’m not saying none exist, it’s just that we didn’t see many on the highways and throughout some of the neighborhoods. And we went specifically looking for that kind of a presence.
With all the build-up to today’s primary, you’d think more people would want to promote their candidate of choice. Maybe all the yard signs are in the bigger cities.
Here in Erie, I’ve only seen signs for Ron Paul. But that could change after today’s action in Ohio and Texas, especially if the candidates open local offices.
Clinton and Obama already opened offices in Philadelphia.
