Hillary Clinton accepts the applause of about 2,500 people at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center at Mercyhurst College in Erie on April 1. At left is Tim Knecht, president of the Mercyhurst College Democrats. JANET B. CAMPBELL/Erie Times-News

Clinton asked the crowd if they remembered when her and Bill Clinton stopped in Erie at about 2 a.m. during Bill Clinton's 1992 election campaign.

She called it one of the highlights of that campaign, the fact that people stayed until 2 a.m. that morning waiting for their bus.

"Bill and I talk about that [visit] all the time," she said.
