There's a lot of speculation these days about the vice presidential choices for both Sen. John McCain and Sen. Barack Obama.
Interestingly, former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge and current Gov. Ed Rendell are getting some face time on national TV on a variety of issues in the race.
Both have been mentioned as possible VP choices -- Ridge for McCain and Rendell for Obama.
They're both longshots for the job, and Rendell told me in a recent interview that he wants to finish out his term and then maybe serve -- if asked -- in a White House cabinet job.
Still, Ridge and Rendell as their parties' respective choices would be an interesting twist to this presidential race. And it certainly would put Pennsylvania in the thick of the action.
It will never happen, but it's fun to think about.
