Sen. Barack Obama kept a tight lid on his selection of a running mate before picking Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del.
Biden balances the ticket with experience and he has foreign policy credentials. Biden is chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
And Biden, a Roman Catholic, could help Obama with the blue-collar vote.
On the other hand, he tends to speak at length and occasionally says something that will make headlines -- and not in a good way.
What are your thoughts on Obama's pick? Will it help him or hurt him?

Joe Biden is a terrific choice. Obama and Biden are two, proven leaders who demonstrate that you can accomplish great things if you work hard, stick to your values, and do what's right for America.
Obama is a courageous, transformative, pragmatic leader whose intelligence and vision has inspired millions of people around his campaign for change. Joe Biden knows how to get the change done.
Obama relishes the idea of surrounding himself with people who challenge him so that he can make more informed decisions, so, to answer your question, yes, I think Biden will help him become a stronger candidate and a stronger president.
Biden, over his 30 years in the senate, has proven to be a team player, and a consistent critic of the Bush policies which, as he said in his acceptance speech, his friend John McCain supported 95% of the time. We have two, incredibly talented leaders in the Obama/Biden team at this defining moment in our country's history.
Incidentally, it is curious to me that the Erie Times News chose to run such an unflattering photograph of Biden on Sunday's front page. He is a strikingly handsome man as seen in most other news accounts.
