Barack Obama supporters cheer upon seeing their candidate for president accept the democratic party's nomination August 28. They were watching the telecast on a large screen projection television at the Martin Luther King Center. ROB ENGELHARDT/Erie Times-News
More than 100 people have filed into the MLK Center in Erie, with more expected as the time draws nearer to Sen. Barack Obama's historic acceptance speech for his party's nomination.
Right now, the supporters are chatting and eating from a buffet, with a few grabbing the choice seats in front of a large projection screen.
Supporters are hosting more than 200 convention watch parties across Pennsylvania, including several others in our region.
Right now, Stevie Wonder is on the stage at Denver's Invesco Field at Mile High. I was one of the lucky ones to see him in concert at the Tullio Arena a long time ago.
It looks like a party in Denver -- and a party right here at the King Center.

And What a party it really was!!! You know John, I was born in this city at Hamot Hospital. I have seen our city really fall by the waste side in so many ways in recent years. With Barack Obama not just Democrats but all Americans feel a new sense of hope and optimism and nowhere was that more clear than it was at this rally. Thank You so much for caring and covering this historic day for us all and for my daughter who I am sure will one day read about it in her history book.
