John McCain took the stage with Ridge and Immelt, and after three brief introductions -- one from Ridge, two from Immelt -- began his speech with praising Immelt's company and the GE Evolution Locomotive.
McCain said the locomotive is an example that companies can adopt environmentally friendly technology and still profit. He called the locomotive the most advanced and competitive machine of its kind in the world.
That's important now, McCain said.
"We know what the future of our economy is, and that's concentrating on the world's economy," McCain said.
McCain's economic plan -- called "Jobs for America" -- focuses on seven areas, including healthcare and energy.
McCain also plans to lower foreign trade barriers. The idea, according to McCain's Web site, is that the country can profit from globalization, much like he says GE has.
