Palin speaks

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is winning over this partisan crowd. Strike that -- she's already won them over.

"I will be honored to accept your nomination for vice president of the United States,'' she said in the first few moments of the speech.

Palin introduced her family, talked about her small-town roots, and spoke of the hard working people in small towns across America.

Palin, former mayor of her small hometown of Wasilla, praised Sen. John McCain and took digs at Sen. Barack Obama.

"I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities,'' she said. Community organizer was a reference to an early job of Obama's.

Palin is also showing the nation a sense of humor, pointing out the difference between a hockey mom and a pitbull. "Lipstick,'' she said.
