More rural vote

Here's some more interesting post-election information from the Daily Yonder.

The Web site about rural issues lists 211 counties where a majority of voters supported one party in the '04 presidential election and another party in November.

Of the total, 177 counties switched from Republican to Democrat, and 34 counties flipped from Democrat to Republican.

Of interest in our area, Chautauqua County went from Republican to Democrat for the first time since 2000, with 26,936 people voting for Barack Obama and 26,593 voting for John McCain.

Elk County also went Democrat for the first time since 2000, with 6,910 people voting for Obama and 6,252 casting ballots for McCain.
