What's new?

This concert listing came in too late for Dr. Rock's listing but Nickelback will play PIttsburgh's Petersen Events Center on March 13. Breaking Benjamin and THree Days Grace will open.Tickets go on sale Saturday at noon at Ticketmaster.

Did you see who jumped on stage with Lucinda Williams in London, England on Nov. 10? That was Bruce Springtseen, coming out for "Disgusted" and "Joy," and jamming on guitar. Williams said it was "the best night of her life," reports Backstreets.com, the definitive Springsteen web site.

Check the Nov. 23 issue of Showcase for a feature on the new Clash exhibit, and a sidebar on Mick Jones and Terry Chimes. After that exhibit closes in the spring, a new one will open on the Doors, to honor their 40th anniversary. All three surviving members have given their blessing to the exhibit, and will likely attend the opening.

What a shame Donna the Buffalo doesn't play Erie anymore. But fans can catch them tonight (Friday, Nov. 17) at Mr. Smalls near Pittsburgh or Dec. 16 at Buffalo's Town Ballroom. Of course, they'll also headline Great Blue Heron next July in nearby Sherman, N.Y., where the fabulous Avett Brothers -- we hear -- will also return.

Hot Christian hardcore band The Devil Wears Prada -- they have 2-million plus plays on their MySpace site -- will play Forward Hall on Nov. 25. That's shaping up as a huge show. Look for an interview with the band in the Nov. 23 Showcase.

Jr.'s Last Laugh has booked the most recent Last Comic Standing winner -- Josh Blue -- for Dec. 21-23. Blue has cerebral palsy; he makes that fact a big part of his act. But he sure earns his laughs; his material is strong. Jr.'s, by way, will also feature Love Train -- the Las Vegas-based disco-tribute band with Erie native Joe Flamio -- for New Year's Eve.

Nearly 1,000 fans turned out for Kansas and Erie's CHannel 4 on Thursday at the Warner Theatre. That's not a huge crowd, but it's more than George Jones drew in early November. Except for Trans-Siberan Orchestra -- which drew a sellout crowd of 6,100-plus earlier this month -- Erie concerts have struggled lately. A hot rock double bill is in the works for early 2007 which should draw well -- if it's nailed down. Put it this way: If it doesn't happen, I'll be disturbed.

Good seats remain for Vicki Lawrence and Mama on Saturday at the Warner; "Aida" on Tuesday, not to mention Goo Goo Dolls, who roll into the Warner on Dec. 5. Also, tickets will go on sale Nov. 25 for Riverdance, which returns to the Warner for four shows on March 24 (2 and 8 p.m.) and March 25 (1 and 6:30 p.m.)
Prices are $61.75, $50.75, and $38.75.
