Dead for Obama? Between the Buried and Me return

Nice to come back from vacation with some big news. Relix Magazine is reporting the surviving Grateful Dead members will reunite for an Oct. 13 show at State College's Bryce Jordan Center in support of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.
According to Relix, Warren Haynes and Jeff Chimenti will join the group, and the Allman Brothers Band will also appear on the bill.
Relix had no ticket details yet but says if the show goes well, the Dead may do a spring 2009 tour, as well.

Between the Buried and Me --- which features Erie-area native Dan Briggs -- will play its first Erie show in three years on Oct. 5 at Forward Hall. Tickets, $10 advance, are on sale at www.erieshows.com and at Ink Assassins
BBM has blown up big time, including tours with Dream Theater and Children of Bodom.
They're touring behind "Colors," which shows them further blurring the lines between aggressive metal and lush prog-rock.

Todd Rundgren has added an Oct. 10 show at Pittsburgh's Rex Theatre. Tickets go on sale Sept. 5 at Ticketmaster.

Bob Nelson -- former (and original) owner of the Docksider -- hopes to open his new place sometime in October. It'll be called Nelson's, and will be located near 10th and State St. Another place for live music will pump up the downtown scene even more.
