Turns out Saturday's Big Leg Emma show at Docksider will be their final show in Erie -- at least for awhile.
The band announced on its web site that it is going on hiatus following an Oct. 10 farewell show at the Reg Lenna Cvic Center in Jamestown, N.Y.
Members cited a few different reasons for the break: "pursuing new music projects, dedicating time to their families, and exploring career interests."
No one's saying they won't ever play again, however.
"Big Leg Emma haven't ruled out playing together in the future, however at this time there are no plans for future projects or performances."
Erie was one of the first cities that embraced the rootsy, fiddle-powered, harmny-loving jam band, which formed in 2000 and released three CDs. It's sad to see them go; every show was an uplifting, joyous time.
If you can't make the Slider show, tickets for the finale are $15 and on sale now at www.reglenna.com. Sean Patrick McGraw and King Rail will open, while Bill Ward and Cindy Haight will perform solo between sets to keep the music rolling.
Post-Gazette Pavilion has rescheduled the ZZ Top, Brooks & Dunn, Rodney Atkins show which was originally set for tonight (Friday). It will now take place Oct. 15. Original tickets will be honored.
Keep posted to this blog in case any word breaks today on the Dead/Allman Brothers show that's rumored to play Bryce Jordan Center in State College on Oct. 13.
