Live Nation on Monday morning confirmed a May 19 concert with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band at Pittsburgh's Mellon Arena.
Tickets are $89 and $55 and go on sale Feb. 2 at Ticketmaster outlets. No other US dates have been announced as of yet, save the Boss' Super Bowl halftime appearance.
Grammy Awards are set for Feb. 8 with a bunch of big-name performers already announced. Radiohead and Paul McCartney have joined the lineup.; which is highly cool. We don't see Radiohead live on TV in the USA all that often. And Paul McCartney's drummer for that night will be Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters.
Look for Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, and Kanye West to team up together, while T.I. and Justin Timberlake also perform together. Other performers include Coldplay, Kenny Chesney, Katy Perry, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, and the Jonas Brothers.
More will be announced later.
I caught "Slumdog Millionare" over the weekend at Tinseltown, and man, it's easy to see why this has caught on in a big way and is cleaning up during awards season. Though it's set in poverty-stricken regions of Mumbia, India, it's about how children can persevere in even the hardest of times.
The score is fantastic; and Danny Boyle directs with a thrilling, kinetic style that's both poetic and riveting. Some shots will stay with you a long, long time. You've go to see this one but not to worry about coming away bummed: Ultimately, this movie is an upper, all the way.
