Crawford County Fair officials confirmed Monday that Brad Paisley will headline the event on Aug. 27.
The big news: This concert also includes two stellar opening acts: Dierks Bentley, a major star in his own right, and 2008 break-out artist Jimmy Wayne.
Tickets for the show are priced at $55 and $50 and will go on sale Feb. 17 at 10 a.m. at 1-800-585-3737, or online at www.crawfordcountyfair.net.
Paisley won two Grammy Awards on Sunday night, including Best Male Country Vocal performance for "Letter to Me."
Speaking of the awards, wasn't it strange to see Kenny Chesney -- known for his high-energy, electric stadium shows -- turn in perhaps the most subdued performance of the whole night?
For my money, Radiohead played one of the best sets, a riveting and compelling "15 Steps," back by the USC Marching Band. Think those college kids were psyched, getting to jam with Radiohead? The superbly attired "rap pack" also came through on "Swagga Like Us."
Coldplay also excelled, while U2 kicked off the show with an adrenalized "Get On Your Boots." Great to see Al Green up there singing, and Justin Timberlake did not sound out of place singing with him, truth be told. I wonder why Stevie Wonder consented to perform with Jonas Brothers. The man's a legend. He deserves the spotlight to himself.
Robert Plant and Alison Krauss seemed rather nonplussed by winning five awards, including big ones for Album and Record of the Year. Krauss spoke just once but Plant was charming and dry.
Cool, also, to learn that Erie's Joe Travers scored a Grammy as part of Zappa Plays Zappa, which won the best rock instrumental performance by beating out Metallica, Rush, NIN, and David Gilmour of Pink Floyd.
It was a pretty decent Grammy Awards with plenty of good performances but the pacing and sequencing of awards/performers seemed off-kilter, at times. Maybe the sudden cancellations by Chris Brown and Rihanna had something to do with that, though.
Meanwhile, Blink 182 showed up and announced they're back together. Look for details of a summer tour to emerge soon.
