Erie notes: The SeaWolves were off Monday after completing a four-
game home series against the Altoona Curve on Sunday with a 5-4
win. Erie won the last three games of that series to even its home
record at 5-5. The SeaWolves have won five of their last six games
and have won two straight series. … Erie is riding its longest win
ning streak since sweeping a four-game, season-opening series at
Bowie April 4-6. … The SeaWolves continue to put up good offen
sive numbers, leading the league in runs (151), stolen bases (44) and
homers (25). … The SeaWolves have hit at least one homer in 17 of
their 23 games. … Erie stole a season-high six bases in Sunday’s win
over Altoona … Center fielder Freddy Guzman had three steals Sun
day, increasing his league-leading total to 13. … Right-hander Ben
Fritz started Sunday’s game and did not figure in the decision, but
the SeaWolves are 5-0 in games Fritz has started. … The SeaWolves
are 8-5 on the road.

Akron notes: The Aeros defeated Harrisburg 4-2 on Sunday, win
ning the final two games to earn a split of a four-game series against
the first-place Senators (14-9). … Akron is last in the Eastern League’s
Southern Division. … In his last outing, Edell pitched eight shutout
innings in a 2-0 win over Altoona, limiting the Curve to four hits. …
Akron’s roster features a pair former No. 1 picks in designated hit
ter Michael Aubrey and first baseman Matt Whitney and two former
second-round draft picks in third baseman Wes Hodges and short
stop/second baseman Josh Rodriguez. … Hodges is tied for sixth in
the league with 18 RBIs. … Outfielder Jose Constanza batted .462 (12-
for-26) with four RBIs in seven games last week. … Catcher Chris
Gimenez leads the league with a .476 on-base percentage. … Right-
handers Kevin Dixon, Frank Herrmann and Sung-Wei Tseng and
southpaw Edell combined for 38 wins last season at Single-A Kin
ston. … Lofgren won 12 games for Akron last season. … The Aeros
are 5-5 at home and 4-8 on the road. … Akron has a 5-1 record in day
games and a 4-12 mark in night games. … Akron defeated the Sea
Wolves in the opening round of the 2007 Eastern League playoffs,
winning the best-of-five series, 3-1.
