SeaWolves activate Rainwater

-- SeaWolves right-hander Josh Rainwater (2-2, 6.31) was activated from the club's disabled list on Thursday and is scheduled to start the opener of Saturday's 5.05 p.m. doubleheader against Altoona at Jerry Uht Park.

The SeaWolves also placed infielder Caonabo Cosme (back) on the disabled list Thursday.
Rainwater was put on the disabled list on May 10, two days after straining an oblique in a home start against Trenton.

-- The Tigers on Thursday optioned outfielder Matt Joyce to Triple-A Toledo and recalled Mud Hens center fielder Clete Thomas.

Both players started for the SeaWolves last season. Thomas made the Tigers' opening-day roster and played 18 games while center fielder Curtis Granderson was on the disabled list with a hand injury.

In his first tour with the Tigers, Thomas hit .295 (18-for-61) with five RBIs and two steals.
Detroit purchased Joyce's contract from Toledo on May 5. Joyce hit .208 (11-for-53) with five homers and 10 RBIs in 18 games with the Tigers.

-- Toledo outfielder Brent Clevlen carried a 34-game on-base streak into the Mud Hens' home game Thursday against Buffalo.

Clevlen, who played with the SeaWolves in 2006, was batting .333 (41-for-123) during his streak with five homers, 28 RBIs and a .496 on-base percentage.

Heading into Thursday's game, Clevlen was hitting .297 with seven homers and 36 RBIs in 50 games this season.
