-- SeaWolves closer Brett Jensen, who has been on the disabled list since May 7, will need elbow-ligament replacement surgery and will miss the remainder of the season.
Jensen, a 6-foot 7-inch right-hander, has been bothered by elbow soreness since early in the season and has been on the club’s disabled list twice.
Jensen was 1-1 with a 4.00 ERA in 10 relief appearances with Erie.
-- The Toledo Mud Hens belted seven homers in Sunday’s 10-0 win at Columbus, increasing their International League-leading home run total to 82 in 45 games.
In Sunday’s shutout win, Toledo second baseman Michael Hollimon, catcher Nick Trzesniak and outfielder Timo Perez each hit two homers. Outfielder Freddy Guzman also homered.
Entering Monday’s home game against Columbus, the Mud Hens had three of the league’s top four home-run hitters in third baseman Mike Hessman (18), first baseman Jeff Larish (15) and second baseman Michael Hollimon (11).
-- Toledo right-hander Eddie Bonine is 8-0 with a 3.09 ERA in eight starts. Bonine has struck out 35 and walked seven in 551/3 innings.
-- Portland Sea Dogs outfielder Zach Daeges and Akron Aeros left-hander David Huff were named the Eastern League’s player and pitcher of the week, respectively, Monday.
Daeges, 24, was 8-for-20 with one homer, five doubles, seven RBIs, six runs scored and eight walks in six games.
At high Single-A Lancaster last season, Daeges hit .330 with 21 homers, 113 RBIs, 55 doubles and 124 runs scored in 127 games.
Huff, in his only appearance last week, threw a three-hit complete game in a 3-0 win over Altoona in the opener of a doubleheader.
