Eastern League notes

-- Looking ahead: Left-hander Luke French (3-6, 4.54 ERA) faces Portland right-hander Matt Goodson (3-3, 2.12) in the second game of a three-game series on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. The series concludes Thursday with SeaWolves righty Josh Rainwater (4-2, 6.06) facing lefty Dustin Richardson (5-5, 5.93). Right-handers Andrew Kown (4-6, 4.68) and Ben Fritz (1-2, 5.28) will pitch the first two games of a three-game series against New Hampshire, which begins Friday.

-- Daeges honored: The Eastern League named Portland right fielder Zach Daeges as the player of month for May. He rebounded from a nearly three-week stint on the disabled list (sprained wrist) by hitting .414 (36-for-87) with 11 doubles, one triple, one home run, 17 runs scored, 14 RBI and 29 walks. He had a .556 on-base percentage and a .598 slugging percentage in those 26 games.

-- Other EL honors: Connecticut first baseman Travis Ishikawa earned league player of the week honors after batting .455 with five doubles, three home runs, nine RBI, five runs scored, three stolen bases and a 1.091 slugging percentage in six games. … Altoona right-hander Yoslan Herrera was pitcher of the week. He had a 0.00 earned-run average in his only start, a no-decision in a 1-0 win in 10 innings against Connecticut. He struck out six and allowed four hits in eight innings.
