Saturday's SeaWolves notes

-- Ryan Roberson was back in the Erie SeaWolves lineup after a seven-game stint with Toledo. The first baseman hit .240 (6-for-25) with no home runs and an RBI for the Mud Hens.
Roberson’s best game was Thursday, when he went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Toledo in an 8-6 loss to the Indianapolis Indians.

-- The umpires will wear blue wristbands as part of today’s Father’s Day activities at Jerry Uht Park. The wristbands are part of Ed Randall’s Bat for the Cure campaign.

Randall organized the campaign to raise awareness about prostate cancer, of which he is a survivor. He currently works in the multimedia department for mlb.com.

The Eastern League is one of nine minor leagues which have umpires involved in today’s campaign.

Also today, Gallup and Tenhaken will give away a string trimmer and lawn mower to a father in attendance.

-- Former Erie SeaWolves pitcher Eddie Bonine won his major league debut with the Detroit Tigers on Saturday afternoon. The right-hander went 5 1/3 innings in the Tigers’ 12-7 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers at Comerica Park.

Bonine allowed nine hits and six earned runs. He didn’t walk a batter and struck out two before he was relieved by Casey Fossum in the top of the sixth.

Bonine inaugural appearance was aided by the Tigers’ six-run fourth inning, which included two-run home runs by Miguel Cabrera and Marcus Thames.

Last season, Bonine went 14-5 with a 3.90 earned run average in 25 starts for Erie. Detroit purchased his contract from the Class AAA Toledo Mud Hens, where he was 9-2 with a 4.48 ERA.

Bonine is the 11th player from the 2007 ‘Wolves who have appeared in a major league game this season. He helped Erie win the Eastern League’s South Division title.
