Oneonta pitchers combine on no-hitter

Three Oneonta pitchers -- right-handers David Stokes, Anthony Shawler and Tyler Stohr – combined on a seven-inning no-hitter on Monday in the Tigers’ 2-1 win over the Lowell Spinners in Lowell, Mass.
In three starts this season, Stokes, Detroit’s 28th-round selection in the 2007 draft, has allowed just one run in 17 innings. The 6-foot 8-inch Stokes struck out seven and walked three and allowed the Spinners’ only run. He lowered his ERA to 0.53.
Shawler, who was selected by Detroit in the ninth round of this year’s draft, pitched a scoreless sixth inning before Stohr completed the no-hitter with a hitless seventh.
Three Tri-City pitchers combined to throw a nine-inning no-hitter against Oneonta on June 21.
The no-hitter followed Lowell's 14-2 win over Oneonta in the completion of a suspended game.
