SeaWolves closer Casey Fien will attend Wednesday’s Eastern League All-Star Game in Manchester, N.H., but he will not be available to pitch.
Erie manager Tom Brookens said Fien, who leads the team with nine saves, is experiencing some tightness in his right throwing shoulder and some stiffness in his back.
Fien last threw on Friday, working the ninth inning in the SeaWolves’ 10-8 home loss to Altoona.
“We don’t anticipate it being anything serious,’’ Brookens said. “He could have been used (Sunday) if we really felt the need to use him and he could be used Monday if we feel the need to use him. It’s not like he’s unavailable. We as an organization made the decision that we would just as soon not use him in that (All-Star) game.’’
