Erie notes: By winning five of six games on their six-game homestand that concluded Wednesday, the SeaWolves improved to 14-8 since the Eastern League All-Star break. … Erie has won its past two series and is 4-1-1 in series since the break. … The SeaWolves are 7-2 against the R-Phils this season, including a 6-0 record at Jerry Uht Park. Erie swept the R-Phils in a three-game series for the second time this season at Jerry Uht Park last weekend, winning 10-6, 9-0 and 4-3. … By sweeping the R-Phils this past weekend, the fifth-place SeaWolves were able to put a little distance between themselves and last-place Reading in the Eastern League Southern Division. … The SeaWolves are 25-35 on the road this season. … Right-hander Guillermo Moscoso made his Double-A debut Sunday against the Phils and struck out 10. He limited Reading to three hits and one unearned run over six innings. … Left-hander Lucas French, who leads the Eastern League with 145 2/3 innings this season, is coming off of an 11-2 home win over Harrisburg on Tuesday. It was French’s first win since June 27. He had been 0-4 with two no-decisions in six July starts, though he had pitched well in most of them and has thrown much better than his record indicates. French is 3-0 with two no-decisions in five starts against Harrisburg this season.

Reading notes: The R-Phils have undergone extensive roster changes in the past couple weeks and continue to struggle, as they have done most of the season. … Several of Reading’s top prospects have left the team recently. Shortstop Jason Donald and catcher Lou Marson will compete for Team USA at the Beijing Olympics. … Right-hander Carlos Carrasco, whom Baseball America rated as the Philadelphia Phillies’ top minor league prospect entering the season, was promoted to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday. … Reading won two of three games against the SeaWolves July 8-10 at FirstEnergy Stadium. The SeaWolves will face major leaguer Adam Eaton, a 30-year-old right-hander, on Sunday. Eaton, the Philadelphia Phillies’ first-round draft pick in 1996, is in the second year of a $24.5 million contract with Philadelphia. Eaton has struggled all season, going 4-8 with a 5.80 ERA in 21 games (19 starts). Eaton was sent down to the minors to work on his game, but in his start for Reading on Tuesday against Portland, he gave up seven runs (six earned) on four hits, with four strikeouts, two walks and a hit batsman over 3 1/3 innings. It was his second minor league appearance since being sent to the minors. On July 31, he pitched for low Class A Lakewood and gave up four runs and five hits in 3 2/3 innings.
