Rookie power forward Darnell Jackson saw his first action for the Cleveland Cavaliers during the regular season in their 119-101 win at New York against the Knicks tonight.
He had been out with a wrist injury, but was activated last week. Don't know how much he'll play in the immediate future for the Cavaliers, but he's healthy now, which is good news for the Erie BayHawks.
Cleveland has the option to send Jackson down to play for the BayHawks so he can get more playing time.
The 6-foot, 9-inch, 253-pound forward played six minutes and 28 seconds against the Knicks in the fourth quarter. He made both of his shot attempts with one coming off a pick-and-pop play in which the rookie from Kansas stepped out and knocked down a 15-foot jump shot.
Jackson grabbed two rebounds as well. He did pick up three fouls and got taken to school by Al Harrington, but Jackson looked pretty good.
The BayHawks wouldn't mind seeing him in their uniform, but Cleveland coach Mike Brown is big on practice time. He wants as many bodies available as possible and considering the Cavaliers have two big men in Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Ben Wallace who are in the latter stages of their career, Brown likely needs Jackson to practice.
But at the same time, the Cavaliers have utilized the D-League in the past and will likely send Jackson down at some point.
