Give that kid an Oscar

My husband and I joke that our oldest daughter should have a sign overtop of her head that says "Overdramatization" -- because everything...and I mean...everything...is a big deal to her.

When she was about 2 1/2 and had been throwing a kicking-on-the-floor, tears-streaming-down-her-face tantrum over something ridiculous like a tiara with a missing jewel or a waffle that was taking too long to cook, he said to me "God, I cannot wait for this to be over."

"For what to be over," I said.

"This. This...everything is a biiiiig deal stuff. God, it's so annoying. This is a stage. Right? Right? This is a stage, isn't it? Tell me it's a stage."

"Well, uh...not really, honey. I, um, think this is your daughter."

And, so she is. And, God do we love her anyway. She is over-the-top about most things. She definitely feels things deeply and sometimes that's bad (like when the toaster has the odacity to take 2 minutes to cook her waffle) and sometimes it's a good thing like when she says "Mommy, you're the best. Thanks for taking us to the Parade. That was FUN!"

She's a kid who feels things deeply and strongly. She's passionate and you have to have respect for that.

Even if it is sometimes highly annoying.
