Spring is springing in Erie. The birds are flocking back, the days are longer (thanks to that early daylight saving time...woohoo! I'll take sunlight over sleep any day), the sidewalks are melting, the sun is shining, the temps are supposed to reach into the 60s today, and the daffy's are poking their persistant heads up in the flower beds that line the walkway outside the Erie Times-News building:

Crank up U2's "It's a Beautiful Day," put on your sunglasses and get your butt outside for a walk at lunch (I don't care how busy you are...you will be more productive if you take 20 minutes to exercise and take in some sun!). Enjoy our spring preview before it snows again!
Speaking of cold and snow, I did something this weekend that I never had the guts (or desire) to do in all the years I've lived here in Erie. I walked on the frozen lake, and took the girls with me. We had a blast. The girls had no qualms. Lauren was half way out to the ice fishermen's hut before I reigned her back in.

All in all, my run-free, leg-healing weekend provided lots of time for leisure activities. We saw two (count 'em two) movies -- Charlotte's Web and the Pursuit of Happyness (both of which I would reccomend), we went to Claytopia, we walked on the lake, we searched the frozen beach for shells, we played games, we painted ....
It almost makes me sorry I feel good enough to resume my self-absorbed marathon training.
