A friend (and SIL) just sent me a link this post in the New England Mamma's blog that is filled with some creative B-day party ideas.
I, personally, LOVE the idea of a pseudo sleepover -- my girls would love it and I wouldn't have to spend all night yelling "SERIOUSLY...GO TO SLEEP." (We're actually going to get to test this concept out on Friday when our church Sunday School teachers are hosting a PJ and Movies night at the church.)
I'm a big fan of theme parties and -- go ahead, laugh at my anal-ness (somewhere a copy editor is cringing at that made-up word) -- I deliberately planned summer babies so I could have their birthday parties OUTSIDE. I come from a family of five..as does my husband...even a small family gathering is 30 people.
Plus, we have a pool -- which is instant party entertainment in the summer. I can't wait until the girls get old enough to have friends for a real, honest-to-God pool-theme party. I've got it all planned in my head already -- the cake, the decorations, the games, the favors, the invites....
Tomorrow, I'll share with you some of the themes we've done (with photos).
And, I'd love to hear from you Mommy readers -- what fun party themes/games/ideas can you share?

I am willing to bet money that I am more PUMPED that any of the kids who are going to the movie party!!!! Jammies at church?!?!?!?! Best idea ever!!!! If I could come to church all the time in jammies... I'd be sooooooo insanely happy every Sunday morning (even more than I already am)... Now if only my computer equipment would kindly hold up the entire time *fingers crossed* I'm already down one computer this week!
I've had several theme parties...
*The Little Mermaid
*101 Dalmations
*2 Finding Nemo parties (and I was like 14 and 15 at the time lol!)
*Pocahontas
*Hawaiian/tropical
*Michael's craft store... we got to make 2 really awesome crafts!
*Karaoke parties :-D
*Bowling parties
*In the summer I had a camp out in the back yard... s'mores, tent, fire, hike in the woods, treasure hunt, and LOTS of BUG SPRAY!
*Laser tag
*60's theme (with "acid trip" colored posters and flowers and smileys and insane-ness)
*Oh! Oh! Oh! And for my 16th birthday, I had a church service! But that may be a little extreme for your girls! ;-)

We used to do some fun parties - and some that drove me nuts (like sleepovers).
We did have good parties with scavenger hunts(yes, with girls) and one clue would lead to another (wherever the clue was had a pirate/treasure theme) until they got to the last clue which had bags of the gold coin candies.
They have done whip cream/gum game - plate of coolwhip with a piece of gum in the center of it - no silverware and they eat the cool whip and then blow a bubble with the gum - I thought it sounded dumb but they loved it.
We've done balloon pops, water balloon fights, pool parties with leis and coozies as part of the party favors. We've done 'musical chairs' but the girls passed around lip gloss or whatever it was and whoever was left holding it, won it. Charades was a big hit with them too.
