Students can prepare for CPA exam online with Clarion University program Anyone interested in becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Pennsylvania can now become eligible to sit for the CPA exam in one year by taking online courses through Clarion University. Classes begin May 12.This 24-credit program enables students to prepare for the CPA exam at their convenience, without ever having to travel to the Clarion campus. It is designed especially for people who cannot travel to campus due to distance, job commitments or family responsibilities.
“Anyone looking to advance or change their career by becoming a Certified Public Accountant can be eligible to sit for the CPA exam in one year through the CPA Exam Eligibility Program,” said coordinator Dr. Tony Grenci. “CPAs are qualified to do many different types of work, and often enter careers in public accounting, industry, government, not-for-profit, and other types of entities. Many people also find rewarding careers as self-employed CPAs.”
Class Schedule
Clarion University will offer the following online classes for students who wish to complete the CPA Exam Eligibility Program within one year. If students require more than one year to finish, Clarion faculty will work alongside them to customize a schedule that fits in with work or personal commitments.
• May (Summer Presession) – Financial Accounting (ACTG 251)
• June (Summer I) – Managerial Accounting (ACTG 252)
• July (Summer II) – Intermediate Accounting (ACTG 350)
• August/September (Fall Semester, first half) – Accounting for Equities (ACTG 351)
• October/November (Fall Semester, second half) – Cost Accounting (ACTG 352)
• December (Winter Intersession) – Federal Taxation (ACTG 353)
• January/February (Spring Semester, first half) – Auditing (ACTG 354)
• March/April (Spring Semester, second half) – Advanced Accounting (ACTG 355)
Clarion University’s College of Business Administration is accredited by AACSB, the premier accrediting agency for business and accounting degrees.“The faculty who teach in the CPA Exam Eligibility Program have six different professional accounting certifications,” Grenci added. “Each has a Ph.D. in accounting; and each maintains on-going practical real-world accounting experience.”
Eligibility
To be eligible for admission to Clarion’s CPA Eligibility Program or to sit for the Pennsylvania CPA exam, students must have a baccalaureate degree from a college or university approved at the time of graduation by the U.S. Department of Education.
