I tried it Tuesday: Sea Queen frozen filets

Tuesdays are "I Tried It Tuesdays" where I'll tell you about something I recently tried -- an item, a movie, an activity, etc.

Yeah, I know today is Wednesday, but better late than never, right?

Today's product: Sea Queen frozen fish from Aldi's

What they are: Simple frozen fish fillets that cook up in minutes. The really nice feature -- each fillet in the bag is individually packaged in a vacuum sealed bag. So if you're the only one in the family who likes fish, you can easily cook just one without subjecting the rest of the fillets in the bag to freezer burn.

Varieties available: Salmon, tilapia, orange roughy and whitefish.

Cost: A serious bargain at $3.29 to $3.99 for a package that contains 4 to 7 pieces of fish (depending on what you choose).

Where to get them: There are two Aldi's in the Erie area -- one on the W. 12th Street and one on Buffalo Road in Harborcreek.

Why to get them? Fish is a healthy source of protein. I love these particular fillets because they come plain -- without the seasoning, oil and fat that most frozen fish comes heaped with. This way, you can season them the way you like and save yourself lots of calories you probably didn't even know all that other fish comes with.

How to serve them: I like to cook one of these up (I just cook it in a pan with a little water) and serve it over brown rice sprinkled with Mrs. Dash Herb & Garlic seasoning.

I love Aldi's.
That's all I have to say.

Kyle:

Just had the "Orange Roughy" from Aldi's.(Sea Queen) Tasted like Cod or White fish to me! Very disappointing. Oh well, I guess you get what you pay for!
