Three things - 5/8/08

Three things I'm LOVING this week:

1. LILACS. OK...honestly...this could count for all three things I'm loving this week. I love them that much. When I was a kid, we had a ginormous lilac bush outside the kitchen window. When you could smell the lilacs it meant two things: 1.) It was warm enough to have the window open, and 2.) summer vacation was near. One whiff of these purple (or white) beauties can keep me smiling for hours.

2. My brand-spankin' new nephew. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting the little guy yet, but I cannot wait to get my hands on him tonight -- all 8 lbs. 15 oz.of him. Little Aiden Patrick was born Monday night to my baby brother (31, but..still forever the baby of the family), Pat, and his wife, Steph (who did all the work).

3. Mother's Day.
This holiday is way more fun now that I'm a mom. I'm not sure what's in store for me at my eldest daughter's school tomorrow, but she is quite excited about the "Mothers Day Tea" event. She's told me that they are planning some "special things" and her unabashed joy is practically palatable. The real gift is that she finds such personal happiness in giving to others.

Three things I'm NOT loving this week:

1. David's Bridal. I heard some horrible stories about rude things they have done and/or said to local brides. Two women were discussing this at the gym last night. One woman told me that the manager (the MANAGER) insulted her weight saying they have petite sizes, but...they are...well...petite all over (as she looked the girl..who is not petite everywhere....up and down). Imagine that? How humiliating. The other bride -- who is an older bride -- said she went there and they completely ignored her. When she finally asked for help, the woman showed her a few things and then wandered away.

Note to retailers (are you listening new Presque Isle gallery/coffee shop owner who leaves notes on runners cars?): Women will not tolerate bad customer-service. You might think we do...cause we'll smile and act like we're OK with it, but...we're not and we go out and tell every single girlfriend...who tells every single girlfriend...who tells 10 more friends who...

And we hate discrimination -- age, weight, color, gender -- it won't be tolerated.

2. hmmmm......perhaps I'm going to have to change these posts into "Three things I'm loving and (maybe) a couple I'm not."

Not being able to come up with anything that's making me mad is a good thing though, right?
