THe diet: 1 week and 3 pounds down

You may remember me whining about the diet my personal trainer put me on last week. I don't do diets...I don't do self-deprivation (been there, done that...never going there again).

It took several days of pouting and feeling sorry for myself and scowling at my husband every time he opened a bag of chips or ate cookies right in front of me ("I KNOW you are not going to sit here & eat those, in front of me, ARE you???"), but I've made it a full week now and am seeing serious results. Different scales say different things, but I believe I've lost somewhere between 3 and 4 lbs. This, even with occasional cheating (a caramel rice cake here, graham cracker there, vodka-and-diet-coke here, handful of pretzels there).

I was trying to figure out what the diet is...I thought it was Atkins, then someone said they thought it was South Beach. Turns out..it's a bodybuilding diet -- which makes perfect sense. You can read more about the science behind bodybuilding diets here.

Here's THE DIET I've been following (mostly) :-)
Breakfast
2 egg whites
1 piece wheat toast (no butter)
1 bowl oatmeal (made with water)

Lunch & Dinner
Fish, chicken or turkey breast
1 cup of brown rice OR 1 cup of Vegetables OR 1 baked potato

Snacks: Vegetables

Beverages: Water only (except hot tea is OK for breakfast)

Seasonings, toppings -- Mrs. Dash. No salt, no butter, no dressings, no ketchup, etc.

I've got one more week on this diet and then, I believe we phase back in things like fruit and dairy and other grains.

But, the bottom line is that I intend to make an effort to incorporate more protein into all of my meals because...I am NOT hungry on this diet. No lie. I sometimes WANT salty chips and pretzels and whatever, but...I am not hungry.

I used to eat all "good" foods before and be starving in 2 hours...not so when I throw in a little grilled chicken or salmon.

YAY!!!! I'm sooooo proud!
When you're done with your dedication and will power, can I borrow some? Thanks :-D
