Three things I'm loving this week:
1. "Last Comic Standing." I don't buy into most of the reality shows (I've never even watched an episode of "American Idol"), but "Last Comic Standing" is worth catching -- even if it means sitting in the house on a warm summer evening.
2. The end of the never-ending Democratic primary. The way I see it, we couldn't lose either way -- both Hillary and Obama are strong leaders that inspire people to follow. I'm just glad it's over and we can all kiss, make up and move forward as a united force.
3. No more bus rush. Yesterday was my oldest daughter's last day of school. This morning it occurred to me that my mornings are going to be much more pleasant now that I won't be rushing around and saying, "eat, eat, eat....get dressed, get your shoes on, get your backpack, brush your teeth...let me fix that hair...hurry...the bus is coming!"
Three things I'm NOT loving this week:
1. The gas leak in my car. Yeah...$4 a gallon and I've got a gas leak. I've been smelling it for weeks. Now you can see it visibly leaking out ...at $4 a gallon. I'm driving the husband's truck today since I'm afraid someone will throw a lit cigarette out the window and my little SUV and I will go up in flames. I have feeling it's going to be a very pricey repair.
2. Racism. There was an editorial in the Erie Times-News today by Richard Cohen from the Washington Post that caused my jaw to drop. He says that one in five whites in Kentucky flat out said they didn't vote for Obama because he is black. OMG. Seriously? I just can't believe there are still people in this day & age who would be that close-minded and blatantly racist. I mean, I believe it, I just don't want to. I realize that just because I don't see something (or choose not to) that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Maybe it's time for us -- as a country -- to stop burying our heads in the sand and talk about it.
