Three things I'm loving this week:
1. A four-day weekend. 'nuff said.
2. This story on www.aol.com about the 30 Things We Secretly Wish Would Come Back. I agree with about 90 percent of them...except for the one about nylons (which was, of course, suggested by a man who has never had to wear them..or, perhaps he does..who knows?).
3. The word "jackass." It's my curse word of choice lately because, well, it's just fun to say and my kids know all the other ones already. :-)
Funny story about #3: When we were pregnant with our 2nd child, we didn't find out what she was, so we we compiled a list of boy and girl names. "Jack" was a the top of my list of boys names and my husband dismissed it immediately. I'm like...what's wrong with Jack? It's such a cool name? He said...Heather, I will not let you name my son Jack Cass. (gotta read that out loud to get it). oooohhhhhh....right.....I'll scratch that off the list right now.
Things I'm not loving this week:
1. Fireworks. Now, I like the big ones that are set off by professional pyrotechnicians, but I hate the little (and sometimes big) and always LOUD ones set of by all the adolescent, teen and, yes, GROWN men that started last night and will probably go on the entire weekend. How much money do you think people blow on things that...literally...go up in smoke? The only saving grace is that we no longer have a dog and so I don't have to put up with four days of cowering, whimpering, crying, nervous circling and piddling on the kitchen floor every time some jackass sets off another pack of poppers.
2. Brightroom photography. Brightroom is a company that sends photographers out to cover events. They do a lot of sporting events -- particularly big marathons. What happens is they station a photographer at a few spots on the course and at the finish line and then, afterwards, try to sell the photos to the participants. Fine. Great. Nice service. But...the photos are ridiculously priced.
Here's the best part. I decided to buy a high-res digital image of the chosen photo (which costs $30!) ...no print...just the digital image (that I can then have printed anywhere) and they tacked on $6.99 for shipping and handling. $7 to EMAIL me the DIGITAL photo. How insane is that? Crazy enough that I almost canceled the order, but...it was Dan's first marathon and I need the stupid photo for the scrapbook! Jackasses.
