Three things I'm loving this week:
1. Diet Dr. Pepper. My favorite softdrink...hands-down.
2. Bath & Body Works' Halloween collection. How cute are these? The soap dispensers are just $10 and the puff is $6.50.

3. Strawberries, angel food cake and fat-free Cool Whip. Erie County Farms was selling flats of strawberries last week for $3. I bought a flat and figured I'm make jam...until I got home & realized that more than 1/2 of the berries were moldy/rotten or otherwise unuseable. When all was said and done, I had enough to make one batch of freezer jam, but decided I wasn't going through the hassle for five jars of jam, so I crushed the berries, added some water and lots of sugar, baked/burned an angel food cake and voila! Dessert for a week. It's gone now & that's good because low-fat or not, I'm sure it's not good to be throwing back a bowl of this stuff every night at 10 p.m.
Three things I'm not loving this week:
1. The demise of the Verizon "time & temp" phone service. I have relied on this number since I was a teen. I still call it probably twice a day to check the temperature -- once in the morning before I get dressed to go run and once before I go out to walk at lunchtime. I used to call the number a lot from my cell phone to check the time when we were out and about. One day my husband pointed out that my cell phone displays time. Oooohhhh....right, then.
2. This guy scares the hell out of me on several levels. You'll probably see the whole story on Law & Order, CSI or Criminal Minds next week -- they love this kind of stuff. In fact...you gotta wonder if those shows are actually giving people ideas. Worse yet, I think those shows are making us complacent. We're desensitized to horrific acts (like tossing women in dungeons and sex trafficking)...we start to think these things are commonplace because we see it depicted on TV every night -- all wrapped up and disguised as "entertainment." (I'll climb down off my soapbox now).
3. Talk of my 20-year class reunion. "You mean 10-year, right?...It can't be 20," I emailed to a school chum who's helping organize the big shin-dig scheduled for next summer. If any of you graduated with me and want to be sure you're on the invite list -- e-mail Shannon Briody (Anderson) at batcow71@yahoo.com.
