Three things I'm loving this week:
1. Webkinz' Hungry Hog game. I can blame our September Her Times "Good Guy" Chad Bentley (of Reading Now) for this one. Chatting at a Seawolves game a few weeks ago I was telling him that my daughters had discovered Webkinz and were obsessed with earning and winning Webkinz money to "buy" things for their pets' virtual homes online. He said he was hooked on the game "Hungry Hog" (it's like Pac Man) and...now I am, too. I actually played it on my lunch hour the other day. And now it's official -- I need an intervention.
2. Crickets, cicadas and fireflies. It won't be long before these bugs-of-the-night are gone and evenings are eerily silent. For now, I throw open my windows and enjoy the cacophony and light show of insects looking for love.
3. Football! NFL starts tonight and I'm going to kick the season off in style with a party at the sports bar with co-workers. Saturday night, I'm planning to see a game at my H.S. Alma mater (found my cowbell, Marcy!).
Things I'm not loving this week:
1. Political convention coverage on all three networks. OK...seriously...snore. I truly care about politics and I want to be an informed voter -- I really do. But, how can anyone see these things for anything more than the hour-long (sometimes three-hour long) pep rallies that they are?
2. Power lines sagging with rows of birds. Theyr'e flocking already -- gathering together and getting ready to fly south for the summer and, cool as it is to rows of hundreds of birds all lined up in pretty rows, I just want to shout, "Traitors! Wimps! Pansies!"

Ok! So I now know someone else who isn't a child who is a Webkinz addict... Only, you're safe because you have children... So it doesn't look quite so bad... I, however, don't have children... or a younger sibling...so I just seem like a loser who has a webkinz account... Eh, to each their own.
