Meet George Jetson, his boy Elroy...

As you know...because I've preached about it again & again...I'm pretty anti-TV when it comes to kids. Some TV is OK, but...most kids watch to much and most of the stuff is crap. I particularly despise shows with disrespectful characters or brothers and/or sisters who fight all time.

Now that we lost WQLN, when my kids watch TV, they watch DVDs -- usually kid's movies which are 2 hours long. Too long, in my opinion. But, when I turn it off half-way through they, of course, pitch a fit.

What I need are some half-hour or hour-long shows.

Enter Amazon and their deal of the day on the complete first (and only) season of The Jetsons. Just $20 for 24 episodes. I was shocked to find that there was only one season of The Jetsons. I seem to remember watching it for years when I was a kid. :-)

And, then, of course, at checkout they dangle "The Flintstones" in front of me and I had to buy the first season of that, too.

I'm looking forward to introducing my kids to the stone-age and space-age families of my youth. (Weird though that both of these series were created in the early 60s and I grew up in the 70s and remember them as if they were new....must've got a lot of mileage out of kid's shows back then...come to think of it...they still do, eh?).

Is it quality TV, probably not...but it is entertaining and episodes are only a half hour.

Chris Pennsy:

Well, a while ago I got sucked into the lure of old school cartoons and bought the first AND second seasons of "Scooby Doo! Where Are you?!" I never get tired of those. Now if I could only find JabberJaws and Clue Club I'd be all set.
