I tried it Tuesday: Cappuccino coolers

Tuesdays are "I Tried It Tuesdays" where I'll tell you about something I recently tried -- an item, a movie, an activity, etc.

Today's topic: General Foods International Cappuccino Coolers Iced Cappuccino Drink Mix (Hazelnut).

What it is: A powder you add to milk. Packaged in individual serving "sticks" -- 6 in a box for $2 (at Wal-Mart).

Why I tried it: I'm addicted to Giant Eagle's hazelnut coffee and will, therefore, try almost anything that has a hazelnut flavor.

Did I like it? Yes and no. The flavor was good and it was a sweet, low-cal treat. Did it taste like hazelnut? Yes, vaguely. What I didn't like about it was the powdery part. it would've been better if it were already mixed up, but...then it wouldn't be so portable and easy to use. It did mix into the milk well and dissolved completely with stirring.

What it's good for? A mid-afternoon office pick-me-up and as a diversion when you're tempted to dive into your kid's Halloween candy stash.

Nutrition facts: 60 calories in the mix (milk adds more calories) and 0 fat. 15 grams of carbs. Complete nutrition facts can be found here. Be aware that the first ingredient (which means the most bountiful ingredient in the product) is sugar. That's followed by instant coffee, artificial flavor and milk protein.
