Tuesdays are "I Tried It Tuesdays" where I'll tell you about something I recently tried -- an item, a movie, an activity, etc.
Today's topic: Fisher-Price Kid Tough Digital Camera

What it is: A digital camera for the preschool set
The good: It makes cool sounds, it's very easy to use, you can use a standard SD digital card, it's easy to download the photos and it's nearly indestructible (dropping it...again and again...from high places doesn't even affect it).
The bad: The resolution is horrible. Beyond horrible. Inexcusably bad for a product that costs $50. From the FP Web site: "Two image resolution settings: 0.3 and 1.3 interpolated (640 x 480 resolution) mega pixels for 4” x 6” prints." What does this mean to you? I'll tell you...it means really bad photos. I had read the reviews on Amazon from buyers who said the resolution was bad, but...I thought they were just being picky and overly critical.
The ugly: It requires 4 AAA batteries. Imagine how many batteries your kid can go through scrolling through 1,876 of the dog's nose. They say you can't use rechargable batteries, but...we invested in the good ones & they worked fine.
The verdict: Definitely not worth the money for what amounts to a play camera...because the photos are useless. Wait until your child is old enough to handle a real camera and buy them an inexpensive real digital camera (preferably something more than 4 megapixels).

I definitely agree here. I bought it for my 4-year old. He likes taking the pictures, but I don't even bother uploading them to the computer because the resolution is so horrible. It's a good idea, but failed at execution.
