Three things - 2/12/09

Three things I'm loving this week:

1. Erie's first specialty running store!
Achille's Running Shop -- currently in Meadville and Mentor, OH -- are opening an Erie location. They're planning to open Monday (yes, Monday...Feb. 16) in the Schall Plaza (between the old Value City west and Yorktowne Centre). Whether you run, walk or take aerobics classes, a specialty running store is a good thing. They'll offer high-quality products, solid advice, a large selection of shoes and salespeople who actually know (and love) their business.

2. Easyclosets.com.
Part of our master bedroom renovation includes a rectangular walk-in closet, so we've been playing around designing our closet space at Easy Closets. You just plug in the dimensions of your closet and they come up with a design for you which you can then alter to your liking. Or, you can completely design your own closet from scratch. The prices seem to be reasonable and they offer much more than just closets -- you can design a laundry space, a craft room, a garage and much more.

3. President's Day. I have the day off and, thanks to the bevy or snow days in January, the kids do not. I am practically giddy with the thought of a whole day to myself. Do I go shopping? Do I meet friends for a long run? Do I read? Do I scrapbook? If only I had 8 days instead of 8 hours ...

Things I'm not loving this week:

1. Brett Farve. You could've/should've gone out on top last year. Now, we just want you to go away.

2. A-Rod.First Madonna...now this. So, you're a home wrecker and a drug user. I can think of another A- name that would fit him perfectly.

3. Nadya Suleman -- mother of the octuplets. I'm not sure what to say about this whole circus -- it's very confusing to me. I feel sorry for her. I sort of understand what she's saying about wanting a big family, but I think she's terribly irresponsible. I think the kids will suffer. I think one woman cannot raise 14 children. I think she will -- and does -- live off taxpayer money. I think it's a miracle that all 8 are healthy. I think maybe medical science has gone too far. She's got a Web site now...asking for donations. I don't want to judge, but I find it really hard not to.
