Three things -- 2/5/09

Three things I'm loving this week:

1. Superbowl XLIII. From James Harrison's interception and subsequent 92-yard touchdown to Santonio Holme's amazing catch in the final 2 minutes of the game, it was Steeler football at it's best -- hard-hitting, fun and edge-of-your-seat exciting until the last seconds.

2. Wikispaces. My daughter's 1st grade teacher make up a wikispace Web page for her class full of online educational games, advice for parents, class photos, etc. There's even an area where they can go to hear children's books read by the authors themselves. How cool is that? The girls have been having a great time with it and I don't mind letting them play with it because it has to be more educational than Webkinz! (I'd post a link but you have to be an approved member to access their page).

3. Bean Day. (Bring your Bean-o!)

Three things I'm not loving this week:

1. Knitting. I'm sure I'll learn to love this eventually, but...right now, I just feel like a knit-wit. It's way more complicated than it looks. All my knitting friends told me it's ridiculously easy to knit, but I have a lop-sided, drop-stitched half a washcloth that says it's not.

2. Verizon. Someone (I suspect it's the school auto-dialing messaging program) keeps calling every morning at 5:27 a.m. It rings only once. It rings again at 5:37 twice. This has happened every morning for over a week now. I finally remembered to call Verizon yesterday to ask them who is calling so I can ask them to stop. They won't tell me...they "can't" tell me. (What do you mean? It's MY phone they're calling.) They told me to *69 after the phone rings. I tried that this morning and got a busy signal. This does not help me.

3. Car trouble. First, my car died and we had to have it towed to the shop (AAA memberships pay off when you drive a car like mine), now the window won't go up in my husband's truck ... which made for a chilly ride home for him recently. Is there anything worse than sitting around wondering how much car repairs are going to cost you?
