Welcome to the Reader's Forum

Welcome, Erie Times-News readers, to a forum for lively discussion about interesting newspaper topics. If you have a question about your newspaper, I'll try to get you an answer as quickly as possible. If you have a complaint, or just want to voice your opinion, you've come to the right place.

The Reader's Forum will offer an opportunity for you to become more fully engaged with the news, personalities and community events featured on the pages of your newspaper. I hope to help take you behind the scenes at the Times-News, so you can see what goes into a story before it ever hits print. I think you might be surprised by some of the debate that goes on before we reach a consensus on various stories.

Of course, you can always pick up your telephone and dial 814-870-1701 to speak to me directly, but in this blog we can talk informally about the newspaper as if we're chatting across the backyard fence. Everyone's welcome to join in the conversation.

Since becoming the newspaper's public editor a month ago, I've corresponded with some readers who complain that the tone of the Erie Times-News editorial pages is too conservative. Conversely, I've spoken with some who claim it's too liberal. It always leads to an interesting exchange and I would imagine that we can explore such questions in the Reader's Forum,

As long as it's in good taste, everything will be fair game here. The appeal of the blog, I think, is its immediacy. That is, we can carry on conversations, debate subjects or work toward solutions before the next edition of the Erie Times-News hits the streets or lands on your doorstep.

If you enjoy newspapers, as I do, I encourage you to participate in the Reader's Forum. I'll admit that I'm kind of new at this, but it should be a lot of fun to connect with you and find out what's on your mind.

That's it for now. Let me know what you think.
