A popular feature in Monday's Erie Times-News over the past several years is a column on the city & region page called, "You Haven't Lived Here if You Haven't..." Robb Frederick writes the feature, and he fills in the blanks with such offerings as "snuck away to the Wednesday matinee at Mercyhurst College."
That's the focus of today's column, and Robb describes the pleasures of taking in a movie from the Guelcher Film series in the posh surroundings of Mercyhurst's Mary D'Angelo Performing Arts Center.
In recent months, Robb has reminded newspaper readers of the pleasure of quaffing an ale or two at Erie's Brewpub, or learning something from WQLN's Wally Faas. He comes up with a different idea every Monday, reminding readers what pleasure it is stroll amidst the Autumn leaves at Presque Isle State Park, or crunch across the ice on the bay.
Sometimes Robb provides a taste of distinctive Erie cuisine. He makes my mouth water as he describes the pleasure of licking a Blue Moon ice cream cone, or biting into a Greek hot dog.
The writing of this feature must be right-on to draw readers in, and Frederick is quite good at this. He's always on the lookout for new ideas for "You Haven't Lived," so if you have a secret pleasure you wouldn't mind sharing with tens of thousands of readers, write or call Robb (814-870-1733).
Soon, you might discover, as I have, that You Haven't Lived Here if you haven't ... read You Haven't Lived on a regular basis.
