Miserable heat + miserable little girl = tired Mommy

Late last week, Autumn came down with a little cold complete with a congested/draining nose and a small cough. Just in time for a weekend at my parents' house for the Bergstrom family reunion. Autumn always has great timing when it comes to being sick for holidays or other events.

She had a rough night Friday, even with the cool-mist humidifier on the whole time. But Saturday and Saturday night went fine, as did Sunday and Sunday night. I still kept a Kleenex in my pocket for her, but overall it seemed better, which takes us to yesterday.

Autumn apparently had a bad morning at school. Refused all her food and cried all the time. So I got a call to come get her. She fell asleep on the way home (which was around noon) then went to sleep in her crib once we arrived. She woke up, and after a brief snuggle, played and danced. It was great. Late in the afternoon, she went down for a second two-hour nap. Unusual and perhaps the problem. She had such a busy weekend with so much running around and playing, that it seems she just needed to rest.

We were all supposed to go to dinner with friends, but Autumn and I stayed behind because of the day she was having. Instead, Autumn and I went for a walk in the evening and found how oppressive the heat was. We split a little freezer pop when we returned and then she got to cool down with a nice, long bath.

All I got was a lousy headache and the need for an early bedtime.

So I'm hoping for much better day, although the heat could turn even the best of us into limp noodles.
