When I was a kid, I'd apparently try to bargain with my mom or my older siblings to get them to read more books to me. I'd memorize books, too, so when they tried to shorten the pre-bedtime reading by skipping a page here or there, I'd notice.
When Autumn was too tiny to move, I'd read a book to her here or there. But of course since she was so tiny, she seemed to have no interest. Then she got to the stage where she would sit still for only one page, and that was it. She just wanted to flip the pages in the book. So I'm pretty excited that she has not reached the age where she sits patiently for a few little board books. After five books the other day, she asked for more. So we got more.
I love the little stories. My favorite is "Guess How Much I Love You?" Her favorite is "Moo, Baa, La La La." But we have a bunch of others, too. We have the rhythmic "Hand, hand, fingers, thumb" and I just bought "Is your mama a llama?" I could by books every day and not get tired filling up her bookshelves. Unfortunately, we will, eventually, run out of space.
In the meantime, I'm going to continue to be a pretty good customer at the bookstores...
