Only 94 days to go...

We're rapidly nearing the last quarter of the year, which means the holidays are also rapidly approaching. I hate it when stores jump the gun and skip over Halloween or, especially, Thanksgiving and jump right to Christmas. It really irritates me to hear Christmas carols before I see trick-or-treaters on my doorstep. Let each holiday have its time.

Now that I've said that, I'm going to be hypocritical and talk about Christmas before it's Halloween.

Each September, the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation unveils its holiday cards for the year. For the past few years, this is where I've bought my Christmas cards. If you're Jewish, they also have Hanukkah cards. And if you're not into holidays, they have Happy New Year Cards.

I don't personally know any kids with cancer, but I can't help but be a puddle of mush when I see these cute cards, created by a pediatric cancer patient. Each card also tells you who the child was who created the card and it tells you what type of cancer that child has. Of course, all proceeds from the cards benefit the foundation.

The cards aren't cheap -- so if you're looking for cheap, you should probably just shop at Wal-Mart. But for $15.95, you get a box of 18 cards and they give you two extra envelopes in case you screw up writing the address. Both the cards and the envelopes are pretty sturdy, too, which I love.

I bring this up now, because you can order your cards, have them arrive and get a jump on addressing your envelopes before crunch times sets in. I know I'll be ordering a few boxes pretty soon.

I'm sorry for the propaganda here. I just wanted to share with you some cards that I love that will benefit a good cause. Check them out at the PCRF Web site's store.
